Interactive Panels in Children's Rehabilitation

Interactive Panels in Children's Rehabilitation

How to use an interactive display in activities for children requiring rehabilitation support.

Children's rehabilitation centres use a range of methods and technologies as part of individual support plans. An interactive environment can provide additional opportunities for participation and learning.

Interactive tools can present information visually and let children practise skills at a pace suited to their needs. Their use should complement, not replace, the work of qualified professionals.

A Briolight interactive panel combines a touch-sensitive screen with digital content. Users interact with the displayed information using their fingers or compatible touch tools. This makes the panel suitable for guided play as well as educational activities.

Potential advantages in special educational support include creating play-based activities around individual goals, presenting developmental materials in different ways and adjusting the complexity and pace of tasks.

An interactive panel can bring together functions otherwise provided by a computer, display and projector. Instead of only listening to explanations, children can select, move and interact with material on screen.

Briolight has developed interactive floors, sandboxes, tables and displays in collaboration with specialists from technical, educational and other fields. Product development has included research into applications in education and rehabilitation.

The original 2020 article described cooperation with Ukrainian rehabilitation specialists and referred to assessments and recommendations relevant at that time. For current clinical indications, approvals or regulatory status, consult the latest product documentation rather than treating historical statements as current certification.
