Briolight is a Ukrainian company founded by scientist Andrii Vasyliev. For more than ten years, it has pursued scientific and technical cooperation with universities, research institutes, Inclusive Resource Centres and medical institutions in Ukraine and abroad.
Synergy between science and business
Briolight has worked with Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University since 2007. Interdisciplinary research involves the university's medical teaching and research institute, faculties of computer science and economics, psychologists, philologists and social work specialists. The collaboration illustrates how innovative businesses and higher education can create international-level solutions for rehabilitation and inclusive education.
Laboratory of Digital Developmental Support Technologies
In 2018, with Briolight's support, a laboratory of digital developmental support technologies was established at the university clinic. It became a centre for:
- rehabilitation activities for city residents;
- training professionals at Inclusive Resource Centres (IRCs);
- testing new versions of interactive medical equipment;
- practical training for university and postgraduate students across different disciplines.
International research and scientific publications
The laboratory has become a platform for international research, including multilingual speech therapy with researchers from Germany. This work has contributed to:
- Methodological guidelines, “Technologies for Using Innovative Interactive Equipment in Developmental and Special Educational Support at Inclusive Resource Centres”;
- the teaching manual “Theory and Practice of Psychological Support for Territorial Defence Personnel and Their Families” (2022);
- the development of Briolight's corporate knowledge base.
Social and public engagement projects
Working with the university, Briolight took part in several Spokiy.org social projects, supported by the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine. University lecturers contributed as project implementers and scientific advisers.
The laboratory also serves as a showcase for the university during visits by international delegations, educational events and presentations. It provides research data and materials for the university's social media.
Contribution to digital rehabilitation and inclusion
The Laboratory of Digital Rehabilitation and Inclusion Technologies contributes to research data collection, with findings regularly presented at August educational conferences, exhibitions and forums. In 2018, a specialised conference and exhibition on digital rehabilitation innovations took place at the university.
Results of the partnership
Such scientific and technical collaboration creates opportunities for developers, researchers, practitioners and university education to work together. During accreditation of the Special Education (Speech Therapy) programme, experts highlighted the high level of digital technology integration in teaching and the university's technical facilities developed with Briolight's support.
