Speech and articulation development are particularly important during preschool years. Modern kindergartens increasingly offer specialist rooms with various educational and developmental tools.
Speech therapists frequently use mirrors so children can observe articulation exercises. Common types include:

- medium-sized tabletop mirrors for individual sessions;
- mirrors with an opening through which specialists can observe a child's articulation;
- floor mirrors for active children;
- small handheld mirrors to focus on lips and tongue movements;

The mirror has a stable base, large colourful buttons and rounded edges. Its acrylic reflective surface reduces the risk of breakage associated with ordinary glass, although professional supervision remains important.
