A speech therapist is a specialist in identifying and addressing speech, language and communication difficulties. As inclusive education expands, more schools seek to involve speech therapy professionals. Many children with significant speech difficulties study in mainstream schools, Inclusive Resource Centres and specialised classes. Despite adequate overall intellectual development, speech and communication barriers may influence their learning. They often benefit from coordinated speech therapy, psychological and educational support.
Qualified assessment and timely interventions help children access learning at their own pace while remaining part of classroom activities.
Contact with classmates also creates opportunities for friendship, joint games, celebrations and communication practice. Inclusion should support meaningful participation rather than expecting children simply to imitate their peers.
Alongside professional staff, an accessible speech therapy room can benefit from suitable furniture, literature, diagnostic and teaching materials, and modern equipment. Gamified exercises and creative activities can help children engage with speech and communication tasks individually or in small groups.

Briolight developed a specialist speech therapy activity package for its interactive floor and interactive panel. The original package included two exercise types, “One–Many” and “Say It Affectionately”, each with seven modules: fruit, birds, dishes, furniture, pets, vegetables and wild animals – 14 effects in total.
These activities address grammatical number, word forms and affectionate diminutives. They are intended to reinforce materials introduced by the speech therapist, track progress and encourage participation through play, not to replace professional assessment.
The software uses professionally recorded Ukrainian narration and music. The package was created through collaboration with practising speech therapists and psychologists supporting children with disabilities.
